About

Since they were established in 2001 The Freedman Fellowships have supported over 40 artists from the jazz and classical fields.

Following a review of the program in 2024 the Fellowships now focus on jazz.

The Fellowships were conceived by Laurence Freedman AM, Kathy Freedman and Richard Letts AM.

The program is managed by consultant Paul Mason & SIMA (the Sydney Improvised Music Association) on behalf of the Freedman Foundation.

The Freedman Foundation was established by Laurence and Kathy Freedman to assist young Australians in music and the visual arts, and to support medical and scientific programs.
